  • Bio: Nicholas Pickering is currently completing a BS/MS program in Modeling and Simulation Engineering at Old Dominion University. His research interests include the application of simulation technologies in autonomous systems and the development of simulation software for educational purposes. Leading a Capstone project that integrated software engineering, continuous feedback, and real-time visualization, Nicholas is now transitioning to a career at Westinghouse as a Simulator Engineer, focusing on nuclear reactor simulators for training and control. He continues his M&S education remotely while working.

  • Bio: Ryan Long is on track to graduate in May 2024 with his B.S. in Modeling and Simulation Engineering from Old Dominion University. He chose a concentration in Advanced Simulation Techniques and a minor in Computer Science to further his understanding of the field. He has contributed to autonomy simulation systems not just through his research, but through his professional internship experience at Naval Surface Warfare Centers Carderock Division. At the conclusion of his Capstone research project, Ryan will transition to a Transmission Engineer role at Dominion Energy Virginia, where he will focus on short term planning for the company

  • Bio: Brandon Stokes is on pace to graduate with a B.S. in Modeling and Simulation Engineering from Old Dominion University in May 2024. Additionally, he will complete this degree with a minor in Computer Science. He has gained some professional and hands-on experience as a Simulation Engineer Intern at Swisslog Logistics Automation in Newport News, Virginia. This opportunity has given Brandon a chance to leverage his current knowledge as an engineer. Following the research of his final Capstone Project, Brandon will shift to a full-time career in the simulation discipline.

His fields of interest include Continuous Simulation, Artificial Intelligence, and Data & Analytics. He has two summers of professional experience interning at SAS. Following the conclusion of his Final Capstone Project, Alan will begin his full-time role as an Associate Software Development Engineer in Test at SAS in Cary, NC, where he will specialize in UI Automation.
